The Baltimore Humane Society and Kids-4-K9s, Incorporated are teaming up to offer a unique summer program at the animal shelter for Baltimore teens. The Program is part of a broader shared mission to increase awareness and promote humane treatment of animals in the community. It is designed specifically for high school students ages 16-18 with an interest in animal welfare and playing an active role in preventing mistreatment of animals.
Participants will spend their time in interactive lessons to learn how to use positive reinforcement to teach and change behavior and how to apply these skills working directly with shelter dogs (and cats too as possible). Participants will also work together to complete a group project of their choice at the close of the program.
The program runs Monday through Friday (5 days); 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. virtually and 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the shelter. Students receive 20 hours service credit at the completion of the program.
PROGRAM DATES: July 12 – July 16, 2021 or July 26 – July 30, 2021
Space is extremely limited. Once accepted, participants are expected to complete the program in its entirety.
